2.5 yrs ago I was interviewed by the police on historic abuse.then heard nothing .Then 2 months ago I was charged.3 days before that I sent a message on a gay web site,would that have something to do with me being charged?

The message on the website is highly unlikely to be connected to the charge - it's probably just a coincidence. Also, if the chat was of any relevance or the police suspected a crime, you would have been arrested and/or interviewed about that matter. So, in short, it appears the two things are unrelated.
