OK I m not wholly satisfied with the response. How can you say that threats to kill amount to wasting police time? Some of the cases I look at involve 12 year old who are being threatened to be killed in Afghanistan, threatened to be thrown downstairs and to make it look like an 'accident'. And it is clear that the child believes the threat and is scared . Lots of the high risk cases involve kids. I accept in the heat of Dv some cases may be hard to prosecute but police usually rely on other charges as opposed to leaving victims at risk . Also - I dispute the notion that police can exercise discretion where crime reports are concerned. Under ncrs criming is based on the balance of probabilities as to whether a crime occurred- so if we do not have "credible evidence to the contrary" we would have to crime it ... hence the need to investigate fully . No police officer can refuse a crime report unless based on his/her know edge of the law no crime occurred ie one lady told me she was being burgled but when probed; the offender was floating about outside and the woman had severe dementia. We can't refuse or unless police can provide "evidence to the contrary" which is why prostitutes reporting rapes must be input even if we think it's a punter who hasn't been paid. Having enough to crime and enough to charge are 2 different matters . In one if my cases the uncle threatened to rip the girls boyfriends heart out then kill them both if she didn't leave the white boyfriend. Would you see this as not prosecutable?CPS did nt charge as she might be probe to exaggeration.... surely we should believe victims and not leave them terrified? Could you describe to me how high this test is ... because it sounds like we should abolish the useless legislation if we cannot use it ....

I just want some clarity. . I need to understand why few police input and prosecute threats to kill .. perhaps someone else could assist and I ll happily pay... but j want then to see our confab so j don't gave to start again if that's OK ?
