The fact that it may be between him and his partner is not relevant. It makes no difference to the sentence.

If it’s a single isolated incident, it would normally be dealt with by a fine and/or community service

As this is under £5000 it will only be heard in the magistrates court. You will also see that the guidelines refer to fines. These are the guidelines of the bands and scales for fines referred to in the guidelines.

All of these, because they are different types of incidents (i.e. not three counts of assault) will not lead to a custodial sentence. You will see reference in the guidelines to find bands and scales which I have put down below for you
Fine bands
Band A is a fine of between 25 and 75% of relevant weekly income
B is between 75 and 125%
C is between 125 and 175%’
the standard scales are
1 £200,
2 £500,
3 £1000,
4 £2500,
5 £5000,
there is a maximum fine in the magistrates court of £5000 but unlimited in Crown Court
