I was involved in a road traffic accident a couple of years ago, liability as been admitted and it's getting close to settlement. I was off work about 3/4 months and I was being paid CIS by a pay-role company. Here they take out their fees. and then I put in expenses every week, I can claim for fuel, food and incidental expenses such as tools etc. I 've been told this is the same as self-employment and they require proof of earnings over the last three years, which were quite low. If I had been employed PAYE they would have taken into account my last twelve weeks earnings which were fairly good. My solicitor said I am classed as self employed. Is he correct? … read more
