It is a defence if you did not know there had been an accident.
The Police would have to prove that only there was an accident but that you knew about it and that is why you drove away.
Only if you knew there was an accident would you have to stop and report it.
If you did not - it is a defence.
As such when you go to Court you need to enter a not guilty plea.
The matter will be set down for trial where the Court will need the Police to prove that you knew there was an accident.
You will need a Solicitor to represent you in Court.
But based on what you have said, in that it is a heavy vehicle, you looked in your mirrors, you did not realise that you had hit anything - you should be found not guilty.
I realise that this is stressful but you need to instruct a Solicitor for the trial to give you the best representation.
