1 A child can be taken into care in the UK without the parents consent.
2 A person can spend 3 days in police custody although they would need the appropriate reviews of detention usually after 24 hours. There must be charge or release without 24 hours unless reviews take place and extensions are agreed. It cannot happen without any grounds but there will have been grounds. Those grounds may not have been sufficient to charge but its rare that there are not sufficient grounds to arrest at the time of making an arrest.
3 A court can order a retrial for reasons such as this.
4 A court should not lose or destroy documents but mistakes do happen sometimes.
