If you refuse restorative justice then various things could happen. Most likely I'm afraid you may lose the sympathy of the police. If this is just a common assault then they would probably given the police caution. Of course, he may deny the offence in which case he could be charged and sent court. I'm afraid it is very unlikely that they would have offered restorative justice for an assault if their view was that this was a grave form of assault.
In any event, I'm afraid it's very unlikely that you would manage to get him evicted on that basis unless the landlord were willing to do so. Landlords are liable for the nuisance activities of their tenant but you have to show that they knew about it and failed to act. 1 assaults is not going to be a sufficient number unfortunately.
In relation to a restraining order, you cannot go non-molestation order because you are not in a relationship with him. You could try to get an injunction but if he lives close by then realistically all an injunction would do is prevent him attending your property. There are also costs to consider I'm afraid.
You could sue for assault but there are costs involved and the awards will be very low unfortunately.
