My great-grandmother left her house to her three surviving…

Thank you for replying. My second cousin (Rosemary) sold the house in August 2006. She just phoned my father and told him it was sold. He took the news terribly and it made him ill for at least two weeks. At this stage there was only one remaining son. He must have been in his seventies but in reasonable enough help. I later learned that Rosemary apeared at his door and told him her intentions to sell. He gathered up the possessions he needed and never returned to the house. He spent the next three years living in a nursing home which he helped to fund himself. Rosemary, as far as I know, never paid a penny to him either.

I have no idea what solicitors were ever used. My dad's mother died in 1985 and her sister died in 2003. Ever since my grand-mother died my dad had no idea how to go about taking a stake. Rosemary's mother claimed the deeds to the house were lost(yeah right) and for years before her death she and Rosemary had planned to move the three remaining sons somewhere else. Two of them died with the threat of being moved hanging over them. I have no idea what ever happened to my great-grandmother's will or who was the executor.

Rosemary sold house in August 2006.

My great-grandmother died in 1973 approx.

My grandmother died in 1985.

Rosemary's mother died in 2003.

Last remaining son (Ernest) died in 2009.

Sorry, I know it's confusing. First the family tree:

Mary-Jane Sloane (died approx 1973)

had 5 sons: Norman (died in their 20's not sure of date)

Cameron (died in 20's)

Thomas (died in 1993 approx)

Samuel (died in 1997)

Ernest (died in 2009)

and 2 daughters: Florence (died 2003)

May (died in 1985)

Florence had one daughter: Rosemary

May had 2 sons: Norman (now lives in Thailand)

Thomas (my dad and he has 1 son and 2 daughters)

Mary-Jane was left the house by her husband who died in 1945 (approx). I have been told that in her will she decreed that the house was left to her 3 remaining sons to have their day in it and then it would be left to her 3 grandchildren equally. However Rosemary sold the house in August 2006 without the consent or knowledge of my dad because he had planned to buy her share, but he never got the chance.

I don't know any of the solicitors involved either with the will or with the deeds or with the sale of the house. When my great-uncle Thomas died, my dad asked Florence about the deeds of the house. She told him the deeds were "lost". I never heard the names of any solicitors. The land is on sale today with full planning permission for a replacement house for £210,000.
