I bought my car City Rover from Approved Car Finance, to be honest it was my first car on finance. I part exchanged my Peugeot 106 and should have been given a £1000 towards the new car but I didn’t get it. At the time I was told that the finance for the car came as a package and I could not take the added items off, the items were Gap, breakdown assistance and payment protection . the car was stolen in 2005 and my insurance company and Gap paid to clear the cost of the car. I thought this matter was resolved until I received a bill for over £4,754 from car approved finance. When I rang them they said I still had to pay for the car break down and even though the car was stolen. I received letters from debt collectors namely Roxburghe who said if I cleared the settlement figure of £830.91 then my account would be cleared. I have since cleared the £830.91 and have just received a letter from a different debt collector demanding £4,754 on behalf of Approved Car Finance. I am deeply troubled by this and cannot afford to make further payments especially since that car was stolen and the break down service can only be used to that car and is not transferable.
 
I have two kids and work as a community nurse and its important for me to have access to a car and I'm extremely worried about the negative effect Approved car finance is having on my credit rating.
 
Please help urgently as don’t know what to do in terms of is it legal what they are doing and do I have legal grounds in court
