Well, he should not return to her. We all have rows. We don't all call the police and make allegations against each other. If he goes back to her, she will do this again and again and its a quick route to prison.
If she doesn't want to co-operate on no account should she tell the police. If she does that they will just get a summons for her as they've really had enough of women who waste their time in this way. The thing to do is just stop engaging and dont attend court. She also needs to avoid contact with witness service or any other referrals they make. If anybody finds out she isn't co-operating they will just get a summons. If there is no summons then she is free to fail to attend without doing anything wrong.
They may or may not get an adjournment when she is not there at trial. If they do, they will ask for a summons and then she will have to decide whether she wants to ignore it or not. It is a contempt of court but its never prosecuted. On the second occasion they will throw their hand in if she does not attend.
They may try to get a restraining order to stop him contacting her anyway whether she comes or not. They may or may not get it but he's probably better off without her anyway.
