Your son by virtue of being married to the mother of his children has automatic parental responsibilities. This gives him the right to have a say in their upbringing, education, maintenance etc. He can also make an application to the court for what is called contact, in other words for an order to be made as to when and where and how often he sees the children, including staying over with you. If this issue cannot be resolved amicably with his wife then I would advise him to make that application. To do this he would need a solicitor and he should agree costs as far as possible in advance. There is no way that the court will deny him contact as the court always consider that what is in the best interest of the children is the paramount issue and not what is in the best interest of the husband or the wife.
