There is no way that your girlfriend can do anything about the house. I'm afraid.
Her father deserves to be horsewhipped for putting her in this position.
You sum it up very well when you say that it is going to ruin her life.
She does have a choice; a very difficult one, but a choice. Listen to me.
If she gives up her studies to look after her sister she will regret it in later life and will, however sub-conciously, blame her sister, thereby destroying their relationship.
If she takes the difficult option and allows the siter to be taken into care, shecan see her regularly, take her out at weekends;treat her to little 'treats' and do all of this with no feeling of resentment. In a coule of years, when her studies are over and she is standing on her own two feet she can take her sister to live with her.
I'm sure that it will break her heart but at the end of the day I really think that she should consider doing it.
