My parents were born in Sri Lanka in 1930 and 1939. At the time Sri Lanka was a British colony. Will they qualify for a UK passport? So that they can travel to EU and Ireland without any visa.

Yes. They always remained Sri Lankans. But before the independence they were techicaly British subjects as I understand; And all the other Sri Lankans born before the independent from Briton.

If your parents have obtained Sri Lankan Nationality, they would have ceased to have become British Subjects and as such, would not be entitled to claim British Citizenship.
