I have a ford focus 2.0 tdc and intermittently it fails to

Customer Question

I have a ford focus 2.0 tdc and intermittently it fails to start. The engine turns over on the starter motor at normal bud but does not start- It displays ENGINE SYSTEM FAILURE on the dash board. It will sometimes start on the 3rd attempt but Yesterday it refused to start at all but is running again today
JA: Does the engine spark at all? Is there a trouble code or is your "check engine light" on?
Customer: no spark as it is a diesel
JA: What year is your Focus?
Customer: 2006
JA: Are you fixing your Focus yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: checked electrical contacts under the bonnet -
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: there are bubbles seen on the pipe feeding the diesel from the filter to the pump

Hi im kevin the fact engine warning is illuminating would suggest the car has picked up on the reason for non start .having car plugged into diagnostic machine will give a place to start diagnosis
