Would divorce proceeding issued against me by my wife be legal if she was made to sign them under duress by her mother?

IN law duress means using the threat of violence or unlawful constraint. As such if someone has issued such proceedings then the court would not consider it to be lawful. That said your wife would need to be stating that there was such duress and indeed could decide not to continue with the proceedings.
