can a prospective employer ask if i left my last job via a compromise agreement

and

if i work with children - should I lie on a form that asks such a question
Hello,

I am afraid they can ask that and I would advise you not to lie on the application form as you could be dismissed if you got the job and it is later discovered that you lied.

yep thats what i thought - my wife took a voluntary redundancy that was exectuted via mandatory compromise agreement - and the local agencies wont touch candidates with Compromise Agreements - is that discriminatory?

She seems to be treated unfairly, not discriminated against, and she may want to complain against the conduct of the agencies to their umbrella body e.g. REC: http://www.rec.uk.com/about-recruitment/standards/How_to_Complain
