We employ an 18 year currently paid £6.08/hr. We have followed the disciplinary procedure and he is already on a final written warning, but he has broken the terms of this and is currently suspended. If we do not dismiss him, could we reduce his hourly rate to £5.20 whilst on a further probationary period?

The current national minimum wage for workers aged 18-20 is £4.98 per hour, so what you are proposing is still above this.

However, the reduction would be a change of his employment contract so you should seek his approval to the reduced rate, otherwise you may terminate the current contract and issue a new one with the reduced rate.
