If asked on a job application do you have to declare that you

This answer was rated:

If asked on a job application do you have to declare that you were dismissed from a job ten years ago when you have had other jobs since. If asked 'reason for leaving' and you give a different reason such as personal reasons or change of career can that be held against you? Must you say you were dismissed?

I would advise you to be honest when completing the application forms. You may wish to answer the question very briefly e.g. reason for leaving could be parting ways due to differences.

Can you be disciplined or sacked for not giving the real reason if offered the job?
