Hi there and welcome

Can you tell me please Tony the make and model of the recorder?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Humax - no model number visible
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the remote has RM-F04 if that helps
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

Thank you, ***** ***** on the back but we may not need it yet.

Can you please remove the power to the recorder (so unplug it from the power socket).

Then wait 10 minutes, connect the power again to the unit, turn it on and tell me please if it is now operating correctly.

Let me know the results please

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
As I already stated I have already done that with no success - the recorder comes back on and then turns itself off again and the remote still doesn't do anything
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

Tony, you only said you unplugged it and plugged it back in.

I am asking you please to leave it unplugged for 10 minutes.

Are you now saying this is what you did?

Please confirmed.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
in fact I left it for about half an hour
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

thanks for confirming.

Do you have a smart phone with you that has a camera?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no sorry I'm a ludite in that regard - my only phone is a landline
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

ok, it would have been a way to check if the remote is actually working.

How about a digital camera? So not a phone but a digital camera?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
found the disc it is a HDR-7500T
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

ok, but in response to having a digital camera at all?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
unbelieveable it suddenly just started working again thanks
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

ok, turn it on and point it at the end of the remote (where the little bulb is)

With the camera you will see the infrared light on the remote working.

You will see it via the camera

Ok, well, if it returns let me know here Tony, Ill leave this question open in case.

It looks like the remote might be failing, possibly a loose connection so just in case, let me know if it returns
