Hi, i have a 2000 3.4 v6 petrol pajero, after trial and error i believe my mass airflow sensor is dirty, I'm worried about using CRC mass airfow cleaner on it since i believe i have a Karman-vortex maf, and if i do use it i read that a person must try and not get it on the small tiny shaped "heater" in the housing... I'm aware that it needs to be cooled down and that it should be removed and that it must be air dried... i need your opinion please

Hesitation while accelerating, stall when i break fast, lack of power etc etc

Yes, tried the basics, oil change, cleaned and poiled my k&n airfilter - i have a internal fuel pump/filter so have not replaced that as it seems to work okay

Hello and welcome to Just Answer

I'd certainly agree that a dirty MAF can lead to a power loss

however providing that you use a MAF cleaner that doesn't leave any deposits you will be fine to use it to flush the whole air path through

and yes don't do it with a hot MAF and yes leave it to air dry

but you won't hurt it

It’s also worth getting the fuel pressure checked as if this is low due to a blocked filter or faulty regulator or even a poorly pump will all result in insufficient fuel being delivered to the engine
