HI just bought a...

HI just bought a Focus 1.6 TDCI 2008. It was going well for a week or so, then Engine Malfunction is now displayed and when this car runs in limp mode. The DPF Reg tank was empty, so I refilled using JML DPF Reg fluid. Also changed Air Filter, cleaned MAF and fitted new Fuel Filter, problem still same. Need to get the codes pulled, but I've heard that if a faulty glow plug, then this would also cause car to run in limp mode, although getting access to the glow plugs can be a pain. Any thoughts on this "Engine Malfunction" display

Mechanic's Assistant: Do you have a scan tool to read the codes?

No, but can get local garage to pull the codes

Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your Focus?

2008 facelift

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Focus yourself? What have you tried so far?

DPF fluid was empty, now refilled, new air filter and fuel filter

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Think that's all I can tell at the moment

Customer reply replied 10 months ago
HI, I tried to reset the System using the fuel flap and ignition key method really carefully but it didn't seem to work
UK Auto Mechanic: Kevin, UK Car Mechanic replied 10 months ago

That doesn't work . It's likely that the lights on because fluid was low . There is no level sensor on the system so without electronically resetting it has no idea it's been reset . So it's likely having it plugged in and reset will solve the issue
