Mechanic's Assistant: Just to clarify, what's the exact code? And have you tried to reset it?

And 23 on a pajero 3.2 diesel 2007 it has both 21 and 23 not possible to reset car runs badly

DTC 23: ECM and Its Related Component DTC SET CONDITIONS This DTC is set when there is failure in the ECM and its related components. TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely causes for this case:) Malfunction of the MFI system. Malfunction of the ECM. DIAGNOSIS Required Special Tools: MB991958: Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III Sub Assembly) MB991824: V.C.I. MB991827: M.U.T.-III USB Cable MB991910: M.U.T.-III Main Harness A

Zoom and Print Options

STEP 1. Using scan tool MB991958, read the MFI system diagnostic trouble code.

CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.

1. Connect scan tool MB991958 to the data link connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
3. Check for MFI system diagnostic trouble code (Refer to Diagnostic Function - How to Read and Erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes). See: Cruise Control > Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes > Reading Diagnostic Trouble Codes
4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
5. Disconnect scan tool MB991958.

Q: Is any DTC set?

YES: Diagnose the MFI system (Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart). Then go to Step 3. See: A L L Diagnostic Trouble Codes ( DTC ) > Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions

NO: Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Read the auto-cruise control system diagnostic trouble code.
1. Erase diagnostic trouble code.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
3. Turn the "ON/OFF" switch to the "ON" position (turn on the "CRUISE" indicator lamp).
4. Read the diagnostic trouble codes.

Q: Is DTC 23 set?

YES: Replace the ECM. When the ECM is replaced, register the encrypted code (Refer to Diagnosis - ID Code Registration Necessity Judgment Table). Then go to Step 3.

NO: It can be assumed that this malfunction is intermittent.

STEP 3. Read the auto-cruise control system diagnostic trouble code.
1. Erase diagnostic trouble code.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
3. Turn the "ON/OFF" switch to the "ON" position (turn on the "CRUISE" indicator lamp).
4. Read the diagnostic trouble codes.

Q: Is DTC 23 set?

YES: Return to Step 1.

NO: The procedure is complete.

hi
the car is diesel and i think the crank sensor is on the oil pump and is faulty it is hard starting but runs good when running but stalls when put in gear

ok i see , I would start with ckp sensor (crank sensor ) the crank sensor will make it stall too , why not change ?
