I have replaced the battery in the key fob but it no longer

Customer Question

I have replaced the battery in the key fob but it no longer opens the doors automatically and if I open them manually the alarm goes off. I have checked the battery is live and the connectors etc. The light no longer comes on on the fob either?
JA: Does the battery look like it's leaking? And does it have a strong smell -- like sulfur?
Customer: No not at all
JA: What is the make/model/year of your car?
Customer: Mitsubushi Grandis WV55 XTN
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: nothing other than checking the battery etc, I cant find how to disable alarm in the manual to even drive it to a dealership although Id prefer not to have to do that
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No, other than I am a bit hopeless and out of my depth
