Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

It sounds like you're hearing a clunk two minutes after shifting the transfer case? That wouldn't be normal. The first thing I would suspect is the clunk you're hearing is the shift actually taking place. If shifts into and out of four wheel drive are delayed and you're getting a clunk it could be an internal issue in the transfer case but tire circumference differences are the most common cause of this. If one or more tires differ in circumference it will cause what you're describing. One or more tires that don't match in size, were replaced at different times, the spare is in place, or even under inflation can cause enough circumference difference to cause what you seem to be describing.
