Hello and welcome to JustAnswer! This code sets because of an issue on the vent valve control circuit. The problem could be the solenoid itself, which isn't going to be your case.It can be set by a loss of power to the solenoid, an open circuit or short to power or ground on the solenoid control circuit. The vent valve solenoid is powered by the 10 amp canister vent fuse. Has this fuse been checked, or has a test light been used to check for power on the red/white wire at the solenoid with the engine running?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I've checked the fuse and it is not blown. I ask my mechanic to check power on the red/White wire and get back to you with the outcome. I've had SO many problems with this SRX, and now I'm considering buying a 2008 Escalade instead - is this a stupid choice, given my bad experience with the SRX?

The only potential issue I'd see with buying the Escalade is the age because you don't know how it was maintained. I'd have it gone over by a trusted mechanic if you're unable to do so yourself, and make sure you aren't buying someone else's problems.
