I have a Toyota Fortuner 2008 3.0 D4D 4X4 in South Africa

Customer Question

Hi, I have a Toyota Fortuner 2008 3.0 D4D 4X4 in South Africa that i cannot get the brakes all round to respond sharply, they are spongy at best, ***** ***** pedal being depressed half its depth before any brake response is felt. The vehicle feels unsafe for every day situations, before even considering emergency stopping. ABS I believe stops my vehicle from locking up, but brake function seems very slow to respond?

I am sorry that you have not been helped yet. I just came online and saw your question.

Ok, any brake work done prior to them feeling spongy? If so, please list what was done

If you pump the pedal quickly several times, does it temporarily give a good firm brake pedal?

Does yours have rear drum brakes or rear disc brakes?

Please remember that I am not there and therefore rely on you to provide as much detail as possible, including what has been tried to repair it
