Neil. I bought my other half a 2 litre 2004 ford transit

Customer Question

Hi Neil. I bought my other half a 2 litre 2004 ford transit van for Christmas. On the day the keys worked. Yesterday they didn't. We manually unlocked the van and went to start it and the whole thing was completely dead. Assuming it was the battery, we bought a charger but when we went to charge it it read 80% charged. What could this be?

My name is ***** ***** I am a professional here at Just Answer. I noticed that your question had not received a response and thought I would see if you still need help with this.I apologize for the delay and I hope I can still assist you with this here.

This may still be an issue with the battery.I have seen some batteries show a good charge but actually be faulty needing replaced. If you can I would try a jump start or battery re charge and see if it starts then or have the battery tested to see if it needs replaced. If found to be o.k. this may be a fault with an issue with the electronic ignition switch as I have seen this switch fail before needing replaced. This would need to be tested further to be sure this is the cause here.

If more help is needed, use the reply tab to continue our conversation. If no further assistance is needed, kindly rate my service. You can rate at any time and we can continue to work on your question as this will not close out your question.Keep in mind in some cases it can be difficult to fully diagnose or help repair your vehicle without seeing it and I work on delivering the best possible answer from what I see to work with.
