My mother in law went away week and came back to her 54

Customer Question

Hi my mother in law went away for a week and came back to her 54 plate micra. She unlocked it remotely but then it would not start or even turn over. I have put a new battery on but the immobiliser light is flashing and the central locking is not working. Could it have lost the code? Tjanks

Hi I'm Kevin. The immobiliser light flashing indicates that the immobiliser hasn't accepted the key so it is likely the car has lost the code for the key. If you have a spare key have you tried ?

The immobiliser can be 'unlocked' just ONCE as follows:

1. If engine will not start -
2. Remove ALL possible sources of interference from the key ring i.e. bare key only
3. switch ignition on for 5 secs
4. switch off for 5 secs
5. repeat these last 2 steps again
6. if engine now starts the problem is interference - make sure you only have one fob near the ignition at any time
7. if non start try this -
8. check immobiliser light - flashes 6 times then remains on constantly
9. switch ignition on and wait 15 MINUTES
10. ensure the immobiliser warning light goes out
11. start car

If it works, drive straight to garage with programming kit or to dealer. DO NOT SWITCH THE IGNITION OFF UNTIL THE CAR IS AT GARAGE
