My key fob didn't work on 2004 s40. I changed battery still

Customer Question

Hi. My key fob didn't work on 2004 s40. I changed battery still didn't work. I got in with metal key part. No alarm but car didn't start. No lights on dash came on but immobiliser light was flashing. Lights were in middle park setting. Is key damaged or car battery dead? Thanks

My name is ***** ***** I am a Volvo dealership technician. I am going to try to help with your question. If the parking lights were left on, I would suspect a dead battery first in this case.

I would try to jump start the car. If it starts, I would have the battery tested and charged (or replaced if necessary)
