Hello the noise you are hearing is normal. It is the traction control system stepping in to stop the car from sliding or the wheels from spinning. It is the same pump that works the abs. That is why when you turn off the ESP (electronic slip protection ) that you do not hear the noise. If the slip gets bad enough it will still kick in but at a higher threshold. So the noise you are hearing is normal function. No worries. :) Hope this information helps.
