Hi Ollie, my name is***** am a diagnostic technician and look forward to working with you.

It is unlikely that washing the wheels would have directly caused this, this is usually caused by a faulty wheel speed sensor, these can crack which the water from washing the wheels may have got into the already cracked sensor, or it may simply be a coincidence.

Unfortunately, there are four wheel speed sensors as well as several other sensors on the system that can cause the light to come on and the only way to know exactly what sensor or component is causing the problem is to have a fault code scan carried out on the ABS System. Most independent garages charge around £40 for this which will pinpoint the cause of the light. 9 times out of 10 it is a wheel speed sensor which cost around £30 for the part (usually a bit less) and takes about half an hour to fit.
