Customer Question

Hi Trevor, I own a 2002 Citroen C5 2.2 hdi Executive SE; yesterday the key fob stopping working. I have changed the battery but still no joy. Also (as we are rather new to the car in question) the car system spoke out and said "Automatic mode on" - wonder if this has any link.

Hello and Welcome! I'm Billy and i will assist you with your inquiry. Feel free to ask if any further info is needed.
My apologies for the delay, thank you for your patience.
First i would try resynching the key fob as following:
Key battery replaced.
If buttons operated repeatedly while vehicle out of range and system becomes inoperative.
Switch ignition ON.
Press and hold lock button Fig.1 [1] for 10 seconds.
Switch ignition OFF.
Wait 3 seconds.
Synchronization procedure complete.
Repeat above procedure to program remaining keys.
Confirm synchronization has been successful by locking and unlocking vehicle.
Kindly get back to me with the results, so we proceed as needed.
PS: i would also try using another key (if available), and i would check for any blown fuses.
