Nissan/Datsun Micra: 2003 micra k12. Had a power steering problem.

Customer Question

2003 micra k12. Had a power steering problem. Not working and no communication to scanner. Replaced column with known good one. Reused original lock, key reader etc. Now got communication with steering and no fault codes there. P1610 in engine ecu and no crank or start. Picture of car with key inside stays lit. Occasionally this light goes off and the words KEY flash a few times in red but still no crank or start. Car worked fine before other than power steering problem.

My name is ***** ***** I am a professional here at Just Answer. I noticed that your question was not getting a response and thought I would see if you still need help with this.I apologize for the delay and I hope I can still assist you with this here.
From what you have described here this sounds like the vehicles theft/security system has engaged causing this fault here.Usually this will need reset with a dealers scan tool or computer to allow engine starting.Double check and make sure everything was installed correctly as well on your vehicle.
Thanks Pete

Ive already tried what you suggested. Tried disconnecting battery, leave for a while and reconnecting. Erase fault codes several times with snap on modis and launch. P1611 still comes straight back on. Treble checked everything ive touched changing power steering and some things ive not touched. Checked all fuses. Checked battery voltage. Even tried with boost pack connected. Between this and a bmw another garage have messed up, they are making my head hurt.

I apologize for the delay.
Most likely a dealer or authorized repair center will have to relearn the vehicles theft system to correct this here. This will require their computer/scan tool to do this.If the relearn does not work this does indicate a theft component is at fault needing diagnosed and repaired to correct this here.
Thanks Pete
