i have a 2006 renault clio 1.5 diesel, im going to change the engine and want to know the correct way to do this, as i have heard some people drop the sub frame to drop the gearbox and then the engine comes out the top. what needs to come out first to
make it a simple job Thanks

Hello ***** easiest method is to drop the entire front subframe with the engine, box and front suspension all still attached as one unit. Undo the strut topmounts to release them from the body you'll need to remove the exhaust, undo the gear linkage, fuel pipes, throttle cable, waterhoses, engine electrics and engine intake pipework Remove all the big subframe bolts securing it to the body and then lower the whole assembly down,This is possible at home if you've a crane or a couple of large trolley jacksbut its far easier on 2 post lift
