ML320: My ML320 appears to have lost sensible acceleration,

Customer Question

My ML320 appears to have lost sensible acceleration, apparently the turbocharger needs replacement (one opinion) this can apparently also be fixed with a "wastegate" .. is this correct - am a Brit in Albania, have seen a couple of garages in Greece.

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!
This is a variable geometry turbo that uses an actuator to control boost. The actuator could fail and cause a lack of boost, but it doesn't use a wastegate.
There are many things that can cause a lack of power. It could be injector or fuel supply issues, the accelerator pedal position sensor, a swirl valve or actuator issue, a boost leak, sensors, wiring, etc.
Do you know what fault codes are setting?
