Customer Question

Hi, well the other night I started my TVR TAIMAR 1978, and after a blow sound smoke came out from under the bonnet where the battery and coil are position. Now the car is dead , tried to charge the battery but soon runs out when I try to start the car....any ideas?

this sounds liek you have a major short circuit ,
I'd trace back the coil power wires to the fusebox and start there
its quite common for wires to chafe where they run over other components and where the fusebox is secured to bulkhead
they can also corrode behind the fusebox where the terminals meet so check behind here too
