Hi, I can get you info on the brake proportioning valve but not much on the axle bearings and as such I would not like to be scored poorly.

That's fair enough ,dont think bearings will be a problem , looks to be similar set up to Fergie tractors , where both half shafts contact in centre , and one bearing is loaded against the other ( I think )
I would be delighted if you could get me the correct set up procedure for B P valve , as I don't want 2 back wheels locking up when truck running light .
As yet I don't see place to put O K , but it is O K my me

Regards Robin

Sorry for the delay, before I send the instructions check the diagram below , it is crude but its all I can get hold of, is this your valve ?

Yesvi think it is , I would say that's the view looking backwards from the front , so to speak , the round bit at bottom left of your sketch is the pivot point for the round bar that passes underneath the BPV along above axle , and connects by a linkage to the axle near centre of axle , the BPV is fixed to it's mounting bracket by 2 8 mm set screws screwed into a plate inside mounting bracket , this enables BPV to be slipped up and down on the 2 slots in face of mounting bracket , and enabling partial adjustment , there is also a fine adjustment on other end of linkage .
? Something strange happening here , just answer asking for another £22 , and just 3 days ago offering me weeks free trial , and encouraging me to ask as many questions as I wanted , been great until now ,

Regards Robin

I don't see whats on the srceen on your side. I should ignore it for now, if you have paid a deposit for the first question that is what the experts get when rated at good or above.

Anyway the way Vauxhall say to adjust the BPV is quite complicated using a battery and test light to see when the balance rod comes into contact with the valve piston , you will see in the diagrams, I suggest you just use a multi meter set to continuity or ohms which will also show when cotact is made.

Start by pre weighting the vehicle with the drivers seat occupied and 750kg for 2wd and 900kg for 4wd over the rear axle. I may not be able to insert all 3 diagrams in this one sill little box so you may have to reply so I can repost.

Just a thought ,it's unfortunate there is not way of setting up BPV in unloaded position , as not always easy to get access to exact load in the home garage , something like distance from balance rod to piston ,obviously this would require the rubber boot or gaiter to be removed , not that that is much of a problem as so far ,as I have not been able to obtain a gaiter anywhere , Milner 4x4 or any of the companies can not supply , even though Milner supplied BPV .

I suppose that you would adjust the rod so the continuity with either the test light or multimeter would be set with the desired weight loaded in the back.
