This is either a fault with the actual lock, the mechanism / linkage or actuator. Either way it will have to be opened up - the inner panel removed to check / inspect and rectify the fault.
You will see its easy enough to remove the inner panel.. Once thats off - re insert your key - and operate it as you were ..and you will see whats happening / not happening and then you can repair as you find.
I dont know your level of expertise but with a basic knowledge and tools and with the direction here, you likely will be able to cure this issue checking / working through it as above..
If not - a local garage would do this for you cheaply - you dont have to use a dealer or expensive places like that ..its a straight forward job for a small garage if you can do it or dont have the tools. If otherwise work through it as above to sort this issue out.
