The 4wd light will continue to flash if the drive shafts etc are under pressure from being wound up by using 4wd on a grippy surface. Try shunting back and forth a couple of times to unwind the shafts

Also check your vacuum reservoir isn't holed( drivers side on the chassis rail - pull back the splash guard and you're looking for a coke can size container), lubricate and exercise the operating pin/ actuator plunger on the front diff , check all vacuum pipes are on tight at the axle and that theres no leaky or cracked pipes

And its worth engaging your 4h and 4l and diff lock ( if you have one) every so often to keep them all working and moving properly, obviously not on tarmac

Finally check the n/s inner kick panel by the glove box, there's an ecu with around 6 or 7 plugs underneath it and if one of these is loose you'll get a flashing light
