Customer Question

renault scenic 2005 - boot door will close down but lock will not catch. Nothing visibly caught in the lock. Thus central locking won't work

Hello. Lets see if the mechanism actually moves. Where the catch meets the car, if you were to close the boot, you should see the bar that the catch clamps around. Now if you look at the catch mechanism on the bottom of the boot lid you will see the part that the bar hits. If you get a large screwdriver, with a shaft similar in size to the bar, and gently push the catch in the same way that the bar would do when you close the boot, does the catch activate? If it does you can unlock it again with the key.

Mechanism moves no problem when simulate the bar moving but it didn't fix the problem. Spent some time on this after sending query last night and found that I fixed the problem by hitting the boor release button on the boot itself a few times.
