Ok if the trim isnt silver then its the colour coded trim running the length of the car. Either way, pull back the carpet and carry out a simple water leak test with a hose pipe or watering can etc.
If still no leak is found then youll have to remove the carpet from the boot, then lay some paper inside, and around the edges. The again with a hose pipe get water into all the water channel, small gullies, anywhere where you suspect the water might be getting in. The re-open the boot and see which parts of the paper are wet.
