Customer: Hi i have a renault laguna 1.9 dci dynamique,the turbo recently went on it.I didnt have money to get it fixed so put it on ebay,when guy came to pick it up he put the revs right up on the car which i had been told by my mechanic not to do but before i got the chance to say anything to him the car let out a massive puff of smoke and started running itself tried to press stop and take key out but would not work so guy told me to pull hose that he had loosened under bonet i did and the car stopped running,oil every where.He said it had run out of fuel and was running on oil,so he said he was not taking it.The next day i tried to start it after had put more fuel in it but it would not start tried a few times but sounds as if battery dead,i am hoping that the engine aint a gonner would anybody be able to advise me what the problem might be thanks

Hi. From the information provided it sounds like the engine has run on it's own oil from the defective turbo. If it will not start, the most likely cause is engine damage unfortunately. The first things to try are to get the cylinder compressions checked and maybe cylinder leakage tests if compressions are low which can give a good indication of the engine condition. In my experience when this happens, engine damage almost always occurs. The best bet is to get these checks done first and maybe clean out the air intake of any oil and possible debris present, but this will involve some expenditure. Sorry I can't give you better news, but I feel engine damage will have occured. I hope this helps. Kind regards
