Hi there

Can you please confirm that this is a P0801 fault code ( engine management )
and not just 0801 ( Driver level * module short to earth, live fault ) code that regularly comes up on the Peugeot / Citroens ?

Customer: replied 8 years ago.
Hi, going into airbag section on scanner the code PO801 came up, going by code description :- reverse inhibit circuit malfunction, means nothing to me ! sounds like a gearbox problem.
The airbag light is intermittent, sometimes the light for passengers airbag (off ) comes on, have checked seat connections.

Hi there

If it DEFINITELY a P code and it gives you a description for reverse inhibit switch, then this is not connected to the airbags at all in any way.

However if the air bag code 0801, 00801, 0802 or 00802 were found, then the fault would be with the air bag control module ( also known as the Comms 2000 module, or steering column control module ). This is a Can enabled module and regularly gives problems. You will find the module by removing the steering column shroud. You will see a blue plug and a brown plug going into the black module on the column. Check for poor connections. If connections are all ok, the fault will be internally in the module itself.
