hi how can i change rear brake pads on 2007 vw passat with electric handbrake without taking car to dealer
Hi and welcome to just answer, unfortunally you will need a special tool to tell the braking ecu that its ok to change pads, these are available after market but can be expensive, i have known people who leave the vehicle running with the handbrake off and do them that way but i can give faults in the system, if you can get hold of the tool then you will still need another tool to wind the caliper back to accept the new pads, try calling non dealer garages they may have the tool, hope this helps regards Martin

Hi and sorry for dely in getting back to you, the tool required is at this link

It is quite expensive but if you are keeping the car or will use it again it is ok, anyway still cheaper than a dealer, regards Martin
