My Beto dsfn 1530 s will not fill with water. My wife

Customer Question

My Beto dsfn 1530 s will not fill with water. My wife accidentally put dishwashing liquid in and it overflowed with soap suds. Since then it will drain if manually filled but not refill.
JA: How long has this been going on? And how severe is the problem?
Customer: 24 hours. The dishwasher will not wash so I guess quite severe. I have checked and cleaned all the filters.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Yes if you can advise what else to check. I am guess that I have probably tripped a safety switch.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Nothing else that I can think of.

Hi, I'm Daniel welcome to JustAnswer, Im reviewing your question now and will post back with your reply momentarily

I think you will find the suds will have overflowed and leaked into the base and has acivated the flood switch here.

What you need to do is pull the dishwasher out and tip it 45 degrees backwards as this will allow the water to drain out from the base of the dishwasher. So you will need a towel for that part.

Then stand it up right and retry the dishwasher on a cycle and see how it goes from there. Fingers crossed this cures the fault and gets it running again.

But if it suds up again the next time you use it then try and scoop out as much as you can and you may need to lean it backwards again to clear the water out from the base again.

So try that and see how it goes and let me know.

It hasn't worked. What else could it be.
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
No thanks I would prefer this.
Expert:  Daniel replied 10 months ago.

Ok so when you start a cycle what does it actually do?

Does the drain pump run at the start and then stop?

Then when it should be filling do you her a humming noise?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
that is correct. Except it does not fill.
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Are you still there
Expert:  Daniel replied 10 months ago.

Try this and see what happens as its a test cycle.

Open the door and turn the dishwasher off.

Press and hold the start button.

Keep that held in and turn the dishwasher back on.

Keep the start button held till all the lights light up.

Now close the door and press the start button again and then it will run a test cycle.

Leave it and see what happens on there and let me know how it goes.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Tried that and although the lights have lit up nothing happens when I close door and press start. None of the lights on the front come on and not a sound although the programme lights stay on.
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Update the wash light is now on solid but nothing is happening. No sound.
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
How long is the test cycle?
Expert:  Daniel replied 10 months ago.

Ok what it could be is a faulty flood switch in the base.

Lie the dishwasher on its back and from there remove the metal base.

There you will see the flood switch. Disconnect the wiring block and inspect the wiring and check for signs of burning on there. As in the past ive found were water leaks in the base it can burn the wiring and this can cause faults like this that you have.

If it has burnt then repair the wiring block and see how it goes from there.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Do you have a picture?
Expert:  Daniel replied 10 months ago.

The flood switch is the only part thats clipped into the bottom base so you cannot miss it.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I will have a look shortly. How long will you be on here?
Expert:  Daniel replied 10 months ago.

I will be online till about 10ish roughly.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Thanks Daniel the switch has burnt out as you suggested.
It looks as though both the housing and the plug have melted. What are my options for a quick repair and likely costs.
Expert:  Daniel replied 10 months ago.

Ok if they have melted then you need to replace both the plastic housing and the microswitch as the switch doesnt come with the housing.

Also if you enter the model number you can find the housing unit on there as well.

As to the wiring you will need to retag the wires with new connector tags.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I have found the micro switch and housing but not the connector. Any advise?
Expert:  Daniel replied 10 months ago.

You cannot get the connector. You need to cut the wires off and retag the wires up with new connector tags.

Click here to see what they are. You can get them from the likes of maplins or B&Q

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Ok thanks for your help. Will order the parts and go from there.
