Sorry for the delay in getting to your question.

What is the washer actually doing wrong for you?

Is it spinning?

Is it draining?

Is it filling with water and washing?

just stopped in mid program start indicator is flashing, machine now empty of washing on reset after all indicators come on, switching m/c off go's back to flashing start indication

Ok E18 is an antibalance error code so its not really a fault as this wont cause the fault you have.

When it flashing the start light is the door locked so you cannot open it?

If so then you need to check the carbon brushes in the motor.

Pull the washer out and lean it bakwards against a wall and have some one hold it for you.

Then lie down and look under the washer and there you will see the back of the motor.

There either side are the carbon brushes. Take them out and see if they have worn down. If so then you need to replace them from there and finges crossed this sorts the washer out.

Check them and see what you find as worn carbpn brushes can cause faults like this you have now.

Let me know what you find.

Door is unlocked and can be opened, I will check carbon brushes tomorrow tho, to eliminate this possible cause

Ok if the door isnt locking then forget about the carbon brushes.

You need to check the door lock. Remove the door lock and you need to test it with a multi meter. Theres 3 tags on the lock. Test between all 3 and you should get a reading between 2 of them. If you dont then the lock is the fault.

But if the lock is fine and it wont start and the door wont lock then the control board will be the fault here im afraid.

The carbon brushes are usually the fault where the washer wont start but the door locks so you cannot open it.
