The pump running all the time during the spin cycle is normal as thats how the pump works but you should have the drum turning and spinning.

As you say the drum only turns the once then stops then its either the motor itself or the moduel board at the bottom at fault.

If you remove the back half panel of the washer there you will see the module board near the motor. Remvoe this and see if theres any signs of burning on there. If so then the moduel will need to be replaced. But the bad news is if it is the moduel then this is now obsolete so you cannot get it as the washer is 16 years. As to the motor you can still get this but these are very expensive as the motor is about £180 so not even worth it.

So if you have checked the wires and the carbon brushes then to be honest its more likely the module board at the back as this is the board that controls the motor and we used to replace loads of these.
