This can often be caused by poor draining of the rinse water. Can you tell me how and where the waste hose is attached to the house waste?

OK, I think that the pump has been slow in emptying the water, hence leaving soap in the machine and the light coming on, and wet washing!!
Check that the waste hose and outlet is 100% clear and try cleaning out the door seal and door area of the excess detergent
Try running a couple of washes again, with the hose reconnected. Hopefully all is ok
If it reverts back, then I would suspect the drain or drain pump
