One other thing.My wife says she heard quite a loud popping type noise when it whent faulty.

I have now checked the wiring and it all looks ok.I decided to do another engineer cycle and there was a continuous bleeping and 11 flashes.Does this mean anything.

Yes there is.

It isn't a grid, it is a clear plastic cover with something blue inside which could be electrical connectors.There doesn't seem to be a membrane there.

After cleaning the optical sensor I ran another engineer programme.The pressure fault has now cleared.The machine still fails to go through the wash cycle but doesn't give an audible warning or cause the l.e.d to flash a fault code.I can hear noise from the circulating pump.Could the impeller shaft be broken.

I have finally had time to remove the pump.It isn't blocked and it isn't broken and it spins when power is applied.Does it now look like a faulty pressure switch and if so where on the machine is it.

The drain pump runs.The sump fills.The dispenser drawer opens .The water heats.The pump runs but water is not being diverted to it for recirculation.The machine will complete a full programme but omits the wash cycle.

Yes the wash pump.The small drain pump works fine.

Ok.Although I said the pump wasn't blocked ie foreign objects in the impeller,i will place a dish under the hose and put water in the sump.This should run straight through if there isn't a blockage between the sump and motor.shouldn't it.

Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner,i've been working night shift. After checking the pump off the machine and finding it worked when power was applied,i reassembled everything and tried again.The machine still didn't wash and the noise I previously thought was the pump running must be the heater.Maybe now it's the controller at fault.If I unplug the pump and start the machine it should flash a fault code if the controller recognises the pump is not there.This should prove the controller is working or not.Am I right in thinking this.One other thing.What if the optical pressure and fill sensor is faulty.Could this make the controller think the sump is empty,therefore not instructing the pump to start.

There is a noise coming from one of the components during operation.Would there be anything to stop the pump working correctly during the wash cycle but allow it to work when powered up off the machine.The pump will have a slight resistance when trying to move water.
