Our Lamona HJA 8640 will...

Our Lamona HJA 8640 will no longer fill with water. The pump runs in an attempt to empty it but it doesn't fill in the first place. Is this an expensive fault with the programmer or something that can be rectified more easily.

No, the drain pump doesn't run all the time.

Struggle to get off the bottom panel, but now removed.

Hiya,
OK, there's an access panel.
Unplug the machine.
Check to see if there's water in the base.
.
If none, what exactly happens when you try a new program?
.
The drain pump should run first, does it?
The drain pump should then stop, does it?
It should then fill with water, does it? do you hear a hum instead?

There is no water in the base.

When programme switched on it makes about 4 clicks each separated by about 4 seconds then nothing.

Sorry, yes there was an occasion when the pump started, but not since.

But, lo and behold, have just tried it again to find out where the clicks are coming from and the machine has started running!!!

Does this sound like a programmer problem?

Hiya,
Sorry, with the very limited information it's not possible to say.
.
I do believe the clicks will be from a relay on the program board but, it could be that the item it's switching is faulty.
.
Run the machine, see how it goes and let me know.

It has completed its programme. It has also started up again for a second time with no problem!!!

Sorry about the long delay. Went away for New Year and managed to pick up a flu virus.

You will be pleased to know that ever since our last contact the dishwasher has worked perfectly, so, whilst we are no wiser as to why it decided to blip, we are pleased to say that for the time being, at least, it is working again.

We are very grateful for your efforts to sort out our problem and were impressed with the quick responses and practical advice.

I assumed there would be a link somewhere on the site to rate your advice but am at a loss to find it. Please advise.
